An overview of the science showing how INEFFECTIVE masks were all along. Meet some PPE Experts, aka "Industrial Hygienists" who were NOT CONSULTED when mask policies were implemented, but who have some compelling messages. These include thoughts on the relative persuasiveness of appeals to emotion vs. appeals to logic.
Here is another document briefly summarizing the wide body of scientific research around masking. Twenty four published (and/or pre-print) studies are featured from a wide range of sources.
This report prepared by Alberta's Scientific Advisory Group for AHS, on the potential for harms of mask wearing indicated that "more problems are
reported with N95 masks than non-medical or cloth masks" and that "pulmonary function parameters were significantly lower with mask use", that masking "produced an increased heart rate and a decrease in blood oxygen saturation" and other issues. It is a follow up to a similar report produced on April 2, 2020. At that time, it was clear that masking was being considered as a potential mitigation strategy but there was little evidence (yet) of long term harm and only inconclusive evidence of efficacy in reducing transmission of COVID-19.
A template of a letter to City Council, yet information here can be of use to other audiences. This letter summarizes 3 different publications on masking from Alberta's Scientific Advisory Group over time. It combines concerns with mask AND Vaccine mandates. (WORD version for ease of editing for re-use)
A critique of a recent CDC mask study. This article offers a glimpse at how scientists may debate the validity of various aspects of published studies.
Mask wearing as seen from the other side. This medical professional points out that in the case of occasional short term usage, there would be no harm in mask wearing for the majority of people. He points to a review of studies that show N95 masks as superior to cloth masks.
Tech entrepreneur Steve Kirsch, through a vast network of contacts, keeps his eye on breaking news in the science world. Here he shares studies from Finnland and Bangladesh that refute any claims of efficacy of the use of masks to prevent transmission of COVID-19.
Respirator expert Chris Schaefer explains how "masks" are actually "breathing barriers." He has summarized key information speaking AGAINST their use in this flyer, and granted free-use permission so it can be shared widely.
A letter to employers, etc. that summarizes the latest findings on masking which include connections to hypoxia, thrombosis, micro-fibres in the lungs and more.
